Materials Innovation for Better Living

        报告时间:2024年4月29日(星期一)15:00

        报告地点:第二化学楼101学术报告厅

报告人简介:

“Microstructure” is an incredibly broad and diverse concept that often empowers one to see the discontinuum within the apparent continuum of materials, to think across different length scales and even different time scales, and sometimes to see the connection between the virtual information-based world and the physical materials-based world. A few examples will be briefly addressed, including some new insights in the solution processing of carbon nanomaterials and fluidized electrocatalysts that allows unstable catalysts to deliver stable performance. On the other hand, materials-thinking encourages researchers to discover new research topics by observing problems in society, which also helps to unlock and protect students’ creativity.

Jiaxing Huang joined Westlake University in August 2021 as a Chair Professor of Materials, after spending 14 years on the faculty of Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern University. He also serves as a faculty-elected member in the Board of Trustees of Westlake University, the Chair of Materials Science and Engineering Program, and the Executive Deputy Director of Research Center for Industries of the Future. He has been an awardee of the Guggenheim Fellowship in the US, the JSPS Invitation Fellowship from Japan, the Humboldt Research Award from Germany, and and most recently the AAAFM-Stoddart Award in Functioal Materials. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and the founding Editor-in-Chief of Accounts of Materials Research, the first global partner journal of the American Chemical Society in its more than 140 years history.
